Newfoundland Steelhead trout is one of the best-kept seafood secrets in North America, but our secret is slowly getting out! Steelhead trout, formally known as Oncorhynchus mykiss, are a silver-coloured type of rainbow trout raised in seawater.

THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF NEWFOUNDLAND WATERS

Newfoundland Steelhead trout are raised in Bay d’Espoir which is located on the south coast of the island. This fjord-sculpted bay offers a rare combination of the North Atlantic Ocean’s crystal-clear salt water, tempered with large fresh-water inflows from the high plateaus of remote central Newfoundland.

Since Newfoundland is already one of the largest North American producers of Steelhead trout production has nowhere to go but up. To accommodate the growing demand for Steelhead trout we, fortunately, have significant water space left in Bay d’Espoir to increase production in a safe, healthy, and sustainable manner.
